Code of Conduct
At Skagerak we work with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a daily tool in our purchasing and quality policy. Our Code of Conduct (CoC) is our guideline for this work.
CoC is an agreement between us and our suppliers regarding a range of requirements that our suppliers have to live up to. All new suppliers are screened and have to sign our CoC. The CoC is based on guidelines from the ten principles of UN Global Compact. From these we – in close cooperation with NEPCon (a non-profit organisation that works for sustainable use of the world’s natural resources) – have selected six points which are indispensable requirements for our suppliers and which we treat with zero tolerance. NEPCon is included in everything we do and carries out internal audits of suppliers.
Our six points of zero tolerance are:
• no forced labour
• no child labour
• respectful treatment of employees
• avoidance of hazardous work environments
• active initiatives to reduce pollution
• observance of international conventions
In cooperation with NEPCon, approximately 80% of our largest suppliers are audited by third-party auditing firms. This ensures that we not only live up to current legislation but also that NEPCon’s ideological requirements are included in our business procedures.
