Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an international non-profit marking scheme for wood and paper. FSC-certified wood and paper come from so-called FSC forests where no more trees are felled that the forests manage to reproduce. At the same time, animal and plant life are protected, and the people working in the forest are guaranteed proper training/ education, safety equipment and wage.
At Skagerak, we support FSC, because we wish to help ensure nature and social conditions in the forests from where a great proportion of wood for our designs comes. So as far as possible we make use of FSC-certified wood. The main part of our oak furniture is FSC®-certified, and our aim is for all our furniture to be so by 2020. That our entire wood furniture range is not so already is, among other things, due to the fact that there is no enough FSC-certified wood on the market that meets our strict quality requirements. We are, however, in close cooperation with suppliers, FSC Denmark and private consultants to work with FSC products on an on-going basis in our overall range of furniture.
In June 2014 our Quality Manager was voted onto the executive committee of FSC® Denmark. This gives us the opportunity for a closer collaboration with FSC and thereby to work even more integrated on the progress and developments of FSC in general.
We have been a member of FSC since 2003. Our certification number is NC-COC-012993 and our license is FSC®-C004462.
